IDX Academy Becomes Certified Training Site in Africa

fctp-theteamwithmarc_web The FieldComm Group has announced that IDX Academy, the South African industrial communications training centre based in Johannesburg, has been successful in the rigorous certification process required to become a site that offers fieldbus training courses certified under the Foundation Fieldbus Certified Training Programme (FCTP). This programme establishes uniform standards for fieldbus end user educational curriculum around the globe, and defines acceptable levels of learning for students of the technology.

From January 12th 2015, IDX Academy became the first certified Foundation Fieldbus training site on the African continent.

Huge Interest in FOUNDATION Training Demonstrations at Process Expo 2011

Process11_stand visitorsProcess11_demoThe Fieldbus Foundation Southern Africa Marketing Committee (FFSAMC) is delighted with the success of its presence at the biennial Process Expo 2011 held recently at the NASREC expo centre (Hall 5), Johannesburg, from May 24-26, 2011.

With its 18m² stand, and use of live demonstration systems for its Foundation technology training sessions, the FFSAMC showed prospective end users the functionality and ease of use of Foundation technology and demonstrated the extensive range of Foundation systems, devices and services available.

New Southern Africa Committee Announces Events Schedule 2011

The Fieldbus Foundation Southern Africa Marketing Committee (FFSAMC) announced its new committee and forthcoming events schedule at the recent FFSAMC Annual General Meeting held at ABB's Johannesburg facility on 18 January, 2011.

Gary Friend, MTL/Extech, formerly vice-chairman and training/technical representative, replaces Paulo de Sousa Gomes, Honeywell, as chairman. Derrick Mulligan, Weidmüller/Phambili Interface, takes over as vice-chairman. Greg Christison, Smar/Allpronix, takes over the marketing role, and Rodney Englund, Endress+Hauser, and Mornay Beck, STC-SA, take responsibility for the training/technical function. Rob Burns, Pepperl+Fuchs/P+F Products, takes the new post of Fieldbus Foundation end user group liaison and Brandon Topham, Turck/RET Automation Controls, and Hennie Blignaut, Endress+Hauser, continue as treasurer and secretary respectively.

Successful Seminar Series - May 2010

SA2010_IV presenting_maySA2010_delegates1_mayThe Fieldbus Foundation Southern Africa Marketing Committee (FFSAMC) is pleased with the success of its series of end user seminars held in Johannesburg and Cape Town in May 2010.

Seminars were held at the Bryanston Country Club, Johannesburg on May 10 & 11, followed by a third seminar held at Casia@Nitida Wine Estate, Durbanville, Cape Town, on May 13.

2009 - A Busy Year of Exhibitions!

Members of the Fieldbus Foundation Southern Africa Marketing Committee were out and about at several exhibitions throughout 2009.

Process Show09 SA picEnd users and prospective end users of Foundation technology were able to meet members of the FFSAMC on their stand at the Process Show 2009 in Johannesburg from May 19-21.

vanderbijlpark_2009_011The committee also participated in the 2009 series of CONTROL roadshows which took place around the region throughout the year.

Fieldbus Foundation Establishes Southern African Marketing Committee

img_0772The Fieldbus Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Fieldbus Foundation Southern African marketing committee (FFSAMC) to promote an increased awareness and adoption of Foundation technology throughout the Southern African region through promotional activities and a range of end user focused activities including training, technical support, trade show participation and end user seminars.

The FFSAMC was formally launched at an inaugural meeting held on October 25th 2007 in Johannesburg, South Africa, which was attended by representatives from ABB, Emerson Process Management/Alpret Control Specialists, Endress+Hauser, Honeywell, Metso Automation, MTL/Extech, Pepperl+Fuchs, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Hans Turck/RET Automation Controls, Weidmuller and Yokogawa. The meeting was also supported by Marc Van Pelt, Vice-President Fieldbus Foundation - EMEA Operations and Chairman, Fieldbus Foundation EMEA Steering Committee.
