The Fieldbus Foundation is delighted with the high level of interest in its stand at the Interkama+ international process automation trade exhibition and conference in Hannover, Germany, during the week April 21-25. Following a theme of "Tea & Technology", the Fieldbus Foundation German Marketing Committee participants invited visitors to sample a choice of 30 different specialist teas whilst discussing displays demonstrating Foundation technology from 24 of the world's leading automation equipment suppliers.
As in previous years, the Fieldbus Foundation occupied one of the largest stand areas at the show with a prime 300m² island location A10 in Hall 7 - the hall dedicated to process automation technologies. Purpose built kiosks were used by participating Fieldbus Foundation members for static or operational displays of registered devices, host systems, tools and services available to current or prospective users of Foundation technology.
Marc Van Pelt, Vice-President - Fieldbus Foundation EMEA Operations, was delighted with another successful Interkama show. "Foundation technology has enjoyed another year of unparalleled industry growth and now accounts for over two thirds of process fieldbus revenues. As the global technology-of-choice for process automation in both brownfield and greenfield projects across the world, we believe that Foundation has become THE standard - providing a total control system infrastructure that enables significant plant performance and economic improvements."
A briefing to the trade press took place on the Fieldbus Foundation stand on Tuesday 22nd April from 15.00-16.00hr, followed by a reception. Marc Van Pelt presented an update on several aspects of Foundation technology including a summary of the market, illustrations of the deliverable benefits of Foundation fieldbus, an update of the Fieldbus Foundation Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) development project and forthcoming demonstration at Shell Global Solutions, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and progress made by the Field Device Integration (FDI) project team and the newly established wireless cooperation team. He also highlighted some of the Fieldbus Foundation's EMEA marketing activities and End User initiatives scheduled for 2008.
Participating members at Interkama 2008 included: ABB, BIS Prozesstechnik, Bürkert, Emerson Process Management, Endress+Hauser, Fieldbus International, Hach Lange, Hans Turck, Honeywell, Invensys, Krohne, Leoni Kerpen, Masoneilan Dresser, MTL Instruments, Northwire, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, R.
