Study Day in Sicily - A Great Success!

Consorzio Fieldbus Foundation - Italia, the Fieldbus Foundation's Italian Marketing Committee, is delighted with the success of its latest end user training event held on June 12th at the Brucoli Hotel Venus, Priolo, Sicily. Held in the heart of the oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, power and industrial region of Priolo, the event attracted around 50 participants from around the area - including both current and prospective users of Foundation technology.

With its theme of "Foundation Technology in Process Automation - Protecting Your Investment and Process Integrity", the study day updated attendees with the developments and application of Foundation technology.

Presentations included an introduction to the technology (H1, High Speed Ethernet (HSE), the role of function blocks, diagnostics); current developments (remote I/O, wireless, Foundation fieldbus for safety integrated functions (SIF); and the benefits to the end user in terms of increased business intelligence, process integrity and open, scaleable integration.

A live multi-vendor demonstration and "Frequently Asked Questions" session ensured that delegates could get a practical appreciation of applying Foundation technology in different installations.

Consorzio FF-Italia chairman, Massimo Guidi, is looking forward to an increased level of training days and seminars throughout the Italian region over the next year. "The Fieldbus Foundation's commitment to developments of Foundation technology and its future in a constantly changing market are clear. In turn, the Italian Marketing Committee is committed to supporting its current and potential end users throughout the Italian region before, during and after they implement Foundation technology into their own processes."
