At this year's Interkama trade exhibition and conference in Hannover, Germany, the Fieldbus Foundation German Marketing Committee again followed the successful theme of "Tea & Technology" for its stand. During the week April 20-24, visitors were invited to sample a choice of 30 different specialist teas whilst discussing displays demonstrating Foundation technology from 16 of the world's leading automation equipment suppliers.
As in previous years, the Fieldbus Foundation occupied one of the largest stand areas at the show with a prime 200m² corner location B09 in Hall 7 - the hall dedicated to process automation technologies.
Participating Fieldbus Foundation members displayed their registered devices, host systems, tools or services available to current or prospective users of Foundation technology using static displays or live demonstrations on and between the stand's purpose built kiosks.
Marc Van Pelt, Vice-President - Fieldbus Foundation EMEA Operations, was delighted with another successful Interkama show. "Year after year, the adoption of Foundation technology continues its unparalleled growth in process automation projects across the world - providing a total control system infrastructure that enables significant plant performance and economic improvements." He continued, "Many businesses are currently experiencing challenging times but it is also an exciting time in terms of the many technological advancements of Foundation technology for automation infrastructures."
A briefing to the trade press took place on the Fieldbus Foundation stand on Tuesday 21st April from 14.00-15.00hr, followed by a reception. Marc Van Pelt presented an update on several aspects of Foundation technology including the Fieldbus Foundation Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF) development project, host testing, diagnostic profiles specification, and plans for a series of end user demonstrations of its wireless and remote I/O developments. He also highlighted some of the Fieldbus Foundation's EMEA marketing activities and End User initiatives scheduled for 2009.
