Hannover, April 21, 2010 - The Fieldbus Foundation German Marketing Committee (FFGMC) welcomes Thomas Kasten as its new chairman. Kasten, who is Marketing Communications Manager - Process Automation with Pepperl+Fuchs GmbH, Mannheim, Germany, replaces Wolfgang Hoeferlin of Endress+Hauser who has stepped down from the position after 4 years following a change in his role at Endress+Hauser.
The FFGMC was formally established in 2005 in its current format to promote an increased awareness and adoption of Foundation technology throughout Germany and Switzerland through a range of end user focused activities including training, technical support, trade show participation and end user seminars.
Fully supported by the Fieldbus Foundation EMEA Executive Advisory Council (EAC) and the Fieldbus Foundation EMEA Steering Committee, the FFGMC plays an important role in promoting the primary value propositions of Foundation technology, which include process integrity, business intelligence and open, scalable integration of information across process manufacturing plants.
Kasten has held key positions within the FFGMC since its inauguration in 2005, as vice-chairman with Thomas Menze of MTL, and as head of the marketing communications function with responsibility for the coordination of the annual German and Swiss end user conference and the Fieldbus Foundation stands at international trade shows in Germany including Hannover Fair Process Automation and Achema. He will be supported by new vice-chairmen Fatih Denizer of Emerson Process Management GmbH and Tim-Peter Henrichs of Yokogawa Deutschland GmbH. Thomas Menze will continue to take responsibility for the End User/EPC organisation in Germany.
Kasten will also continue with his responsibilities for marketing communications for the Fieldbus Foundation EMEA Steering Committee and will represent the interests of the FFGMC on this committee.

Prior to his current position at the Pepperl+Fuchs Mannheim facility, Kasten was marketing responsible for the product group FieldConnex® Fieldbus Infrastructure Technology. Since he joined Pepperl+Fuchs in 2001 he has published several papers and articles on fieldbus technology and explosion protection. Prior to Pepperl+Fuchs he held several positions with companies in Germany and abroad, managing world-wide technical marketing, trainings and service activities for digital communication networks.
