About The University of Miskolc
The University of Miskolc was established in 1949 and is the largest university of northern Hungary. Based in the largest city in the northern industrial area, the original faculties focused on heavy industry, metallurgy and mining. Since the 1980s its profile has changed to include numerous other faculties including law, economics, art, music and teaching. The university currently has over 100 faculties and teaches more than 15,000 students.
FOUNDATION Fieldbus Training Facilities
The FOUNDATION fieldbus training facility is located at the Industrial Communication Research and Training Laboratory within the university’s Research Institute of Applied Earth Sciences faculty.
For many years, the University of Miskolc, Research Institute of Applied Earth Sciences - Department of Research Instrumentation and Informatics, has been actively involved with several research projects to use, develop, and teach industrial communication systems. Having identified the need for improved theoretical knowledge and practical experience of new industrial communication systems and their functionality for both end users and manufacturers, the Research Institute, with the support from several sponsoring manufacturers, established a dedicated Industrial Communication Research and Training Laboratory in 2000. Head of Department – Dr Károly Jónap, Senior Research Scientist (
