The Fieldbus Foundation Central and Eastern European Marketing Committee (FFCEEMC) hosted a successful half-day end user seminar and live demonstration of Foundation technology on Thursday 2 December, 2010, at Hotel Myslivna, Brno, Czech Republic. In spite of bad weather conditions, 50 delegates managed to attend the seminar including end users, systems integrators, contractors and designers.
With its theme ‘Foundation Fieldbus Live - Best in Class Instrumentation', the roadshow was hosted by FFCEEMC vice-chairman, Jozef Schulcz, with support from other members of the FFCEEMC and the local Yokogawa office in Brno.
Presentations in the local language included an introduction to the FFCEEMC and an overview of the user benefits of Foundation technology by Mr. Schulcz. Representatives from member companies Emerson Process Management, MTL, R.Stahl, Turck and Yokogawa each gave a short presentation about their Foundation products and applications experience.
A key part of the program was a live Foundation fieldbus technology demonstration using a working demonstration system assembled by the University of Miskolc, Hungary. Host systems were supplied by Emerson Process Management, Honeywell and Yokogawa; with field instruments from Endress+Hauser, Emerson Process Management, Honeywell and Yokogawa; Ex barriers from MTL, Pepperl+Fuchs and R.Stahl; and connection equipment from Turck. Demonstrations showing host and device interoperability, diagnostics and asset management were led by Mr. Bondor and Mr. Horak.
In addition to the presentation program and demonstration, attendees enjoyed the opportunity to discuss applications and suitable Foundation solutions with representatives from member companies at a table top display throughout the event.
